Last night was BiG’s first 6x6 night. Alan Baker, Lee Woodgate (replacing Vicky), Allan Sanders, Graham Carter, Nishant Choksi and Bill Donohoe each showed six pieces of work (real artwork in the case of Bill - see image) to an enraptured audience at The Eagle.

As many of you may have heard on the news recently there are currently proposals to introduce police checks for authors and illustrators visiting schools. As BiG has a large number of children’s authors and illustrators I canvassed a few members for their initial response to the proposal.

Biscuit of the Month - September 2009

Ooo, well this is exciting, isn’t it? Our first e-biscuit! New technology depending, what I hope to do is put things up on the website as I come across them and then compile all of them into one big summary once a month for the newsletter. That way I should be able to include anything else that any of you lot discover, too. I must say that I’m particularly excited about have colour photos/illustration here! But, anyway, enough geeking out. Back to the main event…

BiG Beach Barbie

Back in the middle of August we got together for our annual summer gathering. Despite the unpredictability of the weather, a beach Barbie was planned and many offerings must have been made to the summer Gods as we were blessed with a bright, dry, breezy evening. Taking advantageous shelter against the wall, the early scouts pitched our camp and we settled in for the evening.

David hung around waiting for everyone to get a tea and chocolate biscuit. His books were all standing up on show one by one like soldiers on a wooden trellis table that made a simple and effective display.
